  • Visit our Information Page for a summary of what to expect on your visit to The Southern Growl.

    When does your kitchen close?
The Kitchen closes an hour before closing time each day (Wed-Sun).

    Can I bring my dog?
Due to strict regulations, we are not able to allow pets indoors unless they are service animals. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are permitted in the lawn and covered patio. Yay!

    Are my kids allowed?
Sure! You are welcome to bring your whole family with you. Children must be closely supervised at all times.

Do you have heaters on the patio?
    In the winter, yes.

  • Do you serve anything other than beer?
We mostly serve house craft beer, but we also offer house cocktails, house non-alcoholic soda, cider, wine, mead, and Coca-Cola products.

I’m gluten-free, do you have food and drinks for me?
Sure do! Keep in mind we are a beer and sandwich place (lots of gluten), but we do offer some gluten-free cider, mead, wine, & cocktails, and gluten-free food options are labeled on our food menu. Those with severe sensitivities should use caution due to the nature of our in-house bakery and brewery.

Do you brew your own beer?
Yes! We have a 10-bbl brewhouse where we create a wide variety of traditional beer styles with a modern twist. Check out Our Beer page to see what we’ve been brewing.

Do you can or bottle your beer?
Yes! We offer a variety of cans and some are only available from the taproom. Beers that are not canned, can be purchased to-go in a growler.

Where can I buy The Southern Growl beer?
In our taproom and in craft beer shops across South and North Carolina.

Can I bring liquor, champagne, or other outside alcohol to share with my party?
No. Outside alcohol of any kind is prohibited, with no exceptions.

    Can I bring a cake?
Outside specialty desserts are permitted, but we ask that you bring your own plates and flatware if you bring an outside dessert. All other outside food and drinks are not permitted. While it depends on the business volume at the time, we generally cannot reserve an extra table for dessert/decoration/gifts.
If you are interested in ordering a custom TSG dessert email Anna at anna@thesoutherngrowl.com.

    Can I bring decorations?
Decorations are OK if they sit on the table or ground but cannot be hung. Glitter, confetti, and confetti balloons are prohibited and may result in a $100 cleaning fee.

  • I received a notification that I left a huge tip, much larger than I intended.

When you open a tab, our system preauthorizes $35 before we return the credit card. Capitol One issues excessive tip notifications to many customers who choose to open a tab because their system interprets the $35 preauthorization as the regular payment and the remaining payment+tip as all tip, even though it includes both the remaining payment and the tip. This is the software’s incorrect interpretation of the payment; we have never found it to be a reflection of the actual payment breakdown.

It’s always good to check when you receive a notification of this kind. Send Anna an email at info@thesoutherngrowl.com with the date and last 4 digits of the card used and she will confirm and send you a copy of your reciept.

The charge on my credit card is a different amount than I expected.

    1. If you opened a bar tab, our system preauthorized $35 on your provided card. That amount will adjust to the correct amount when the payment is finalized. If you closed your tab with cash, the $35 preauth charge will stay as pending until it disappears within 24-48 hours.
    2. If you forgot to close out your tab in-person, a manager closes all abandoned tabs with 20% gratuity at the end of the night. This policy is clearly posted and is fairly standard across the industry.
    3. Someone may have made a mistake. If you think we made a mistake: send Anna an email info@thesoutherngrowl.com with the actual & expected credit card charge amount, date of your visit, and the last 4 digits of the credit card so she can easily correct it.

  • Do you sell gift cards?
Yes! You can purchase a gift card:
    - In-person
    - Digitally
(at this link) Please double-check the recipient’s email address before submitting.
    - Over-the-phone. Give us a call during our open hours so we can take your order over the phone. We can send a physical gift card in the mail for $1.
    * Gift cards are for in-person purchases only; they do not work for our online store.

I didn’t receive my digital gift card; what do I do?
    1. Check your junk mail. Your gift card will be sent from Clover, not The Southern Growl. So, check your email and junk mail for an email from Clover.
    2. If it is not in your junk mail, send an email to info@thesoutherngrowl.com with your receipt or order number so we can assist you.

  • Do you take reservations?
No, we generally do not take reservations, seating is first come first served. And we may not be able to seat together large groups during peak hours. See the Private Events & Reservations page to request a reservation for a large group.

Can I have a private event at TSG?
We currently do not host private events. See the Private Events & Reservations page to request a reservation for a large group.

    Visiting with a large group:
    - We cannot guarantee parties over 12 people will be able to sit together during peak hours (especially on Friday evenings). Please call ahead about 30min-1 hour to ensure your party can be accommodated (864) 655-7444.
    - Parties of 12+ may request reservations at least 24 hours in advance. See the Private Events & Reservations page to request a reservation. Reservation is not confirmed until a reply is received.
    - We do not take reservations for Friday evenings or Saturdays.
    - Due to the nature of our business serving primarily adult beverages, we do not host children’s parties and reserve the right to turn away groups that have a majority under 21 years old.

  • Visit our EVENTS page for more details.

    When is Trivia Night?
We host a trivia night every other month, reservations open 3-4 weeks ahead through our online shop, and reservation fees are always donated to a local charity.

When is Blood Connection scheduled to be at The Southern Growl?
Every 8 weeks. Visit our events page to see the next scheduled date. Appointments are generally available ~3 weeks ahead.

    What is Growltemberfest?
Growltemberfest is our Oktoberfest party and is always held on the same Saturday as the first day of the Munich Oktoberfest.

When do you have live music?
Currently, we book live music 3 times per year for our big events (Anniversary Party in April, Tropical Party in summer, and Growltemberfest in September)

  • I am in a band and would love to play at The Southern Growl.
Email Bob at bob@thesoutherngrowl.com with your band information.

I would like to ask The Southern Growl to make a donation to my organization or event.
